Unemployment, that causes not only economical deprivation but also psychological distress leading to the various social and psychological issues, is an immense problem. Especially it is common among countries where youth unemployment percentage is over 25 percent. This can sound shocking but it is true. This is the main reason why global unemployment must be well-discussed in order to solve it.
The nine days lasting project ‘Just What the Youth Ordered‘ organized by non-governmentheld in Vilnius (Lithuania), have invited youth from Romania, Poland, Lithuania, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey and Estonia in order to discuss real unemployment situation in their countries, get some knowledge about finding job, writing CV, going to the interviews, also share experiences about employment or efforts needed to get a job, and of course, at the end, to decide how to decrease the rate of unemployment. During nine days participants have discussed different problems, learnt new and useful things and participated in various activities using non-formal educational methods, stimulations related to finding and then getting a job. Human Resource specialists shared their knowleadge and tips how to successfully perform in a job interview, which was highly appreciated by the participants. Working in randomly selected groups helped them to improve their English speaking and co-operative skills. Youth as well have presented their cultural habits and introduced their countries, visited Trakai - a popular toursit destination in Lithuania.
What‘s more, during the project the benefits of volunteering were discussed. It was pointed out as a great way to raise self-confidence and socializing skills, to greaten the tolerance between social minorities, religions and cultures. For the participants great opportunity to hear everything from the people who are present volunteers in Lithuania was given. There were EVS volunteers from Serbia, Romania and Spain invited, as well as ‘Erasmus‘ students from Spain and Palestine. They have shared their experiences, stories, advantages and disadvantages of living in a foreign country, facing language barrier, unusual traditions, customs and taking an active role in its life, as well as becoming a part of various non-governmental organizations.
After nine days in a ‘melting pot of spectacular cultures and different characters‘ participants not only have learnt something new, improved their flaws, became more open-minded, but also got motivated and infected by insanely wish to do something by themselves, as they have seen various examples of how being an active person, acting an important role in society can lead to getting a job you always wanted and what is more - being happier and more successful person.
